MALIK'S DEPARTURE, MADE IN THE AM AND HIATUS

  On 25 March 2015, the world shattered to the band’s statement announcing that Zayn Malik if calling it quits with One Direction. The band made their first endorsed public appearance as a four-piece on  The Late Late Show with James Corden  on 14 May, where they assured that they would continue without a new fifth member. The On the Road Again tour settled on 31 October 2015 after playing eighty shows in Australia, Asia, Africa, Europe, and North America. Making $208 million, over 2.3 million tickets were sold. On 31 July 2015, the band released a new single " Drag Me Down " without any promotion or announcement. Despite this, it still topped the charts in multiple countries, including France and Australia, making the song their first single to reach number one in those respective countries. MIDNIGHT MEMORIES AND FOUR

                                                                    " Best Song Ever ", was the lead single of the band's then-upcoming third studio album  Midnight Memories released on 22 July 2013. The song is their peak charting single in the US till date, reaching number two. It broke the 24-hour Vevo Record with 10.9 million views on YouTube.  One Direction: This Is Us , the 3D documentary and concert film about the band which was directed by  Morgan Spurlock and was produced by Spurlock , Ben Winston , Adam Milano and Simon Cowell , and was released by  TriStar Pictures on 30 August 2013. TAKE ME HOME

  September 2012 witnessed the release of " Live While We’re Young ", the prime single from the band’s second album, and was apparently a global success. It touched the top ten in nearly every country it documented in and marked the highest one-week opening sales figure for a song by a non-US band in the United States. The second single, " Little Things ", resulted in the band's second number one single in the UK. In November 2012, One Direction's second album,  Take Me Home , was released globally. It was yet again an international hit, attaining number one in more than 35 countries. UP ALL NIGHT

 In September, 2011, One Direction released their first single,  What Makes You Beautiful , which immediately became a commercial and international success. It reached the number one in the UK Singles chart and became the most pre-ordered single in the history of Sony Music Entertainment. In November, 2011, they singed a record deal with Colombia Records in North America. In that very same month they released their debut album, Up All Night, in the UK and Ireland. With a huge fanbase, it became one of the UK's fastest selling debut album in 2011, which led them to their first tour, the Up All Night Tour.              Back in 2010, out of the many things that the world obsessed about, ONE DIRECTION was the biggest one indeed. But many people still question, who actually is One Direction?
