ONE DIRECTION: WHO IS ONE DIRECTION?

Back in 2010, out of the many things that the world obsessed about, ONE DIRECTION was the biggest one indeed. But many people still question, who actually is One Direction? What is this band? Well for many, it was just another boy band. But for us, it that one band that changed our lives forever.
The name One Direction in itself made history, and when I say history, I do mean it, because till date, One Direction is still considered as one of the biggest boy bands that the music world every witnessed.
But before going in the depths, lets see how actually one direction came into existence.

It was in 2010, when the bandmates, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, Niall Horan and Zayn Malik individually auditioned for the popular UK televised singing show The X Factor. Although all five of the boys were able to make it through the selection round, the boys could not make it through the "boys" category in the bootcamp session. Keeping in mind that they deserve a chance, guest judge Nicole Scherzinger, and Simon Cowell apparently cam up with the idea, and put all five of the boys in a group and selected them through the "group' category, completely unaware of the fact that they were to become the biggest boy band in the coming years.

Subsequently the group got together, got to know each other and started to practice. One of the members, Harry Styles, came up with name ONE DIRECTION.
During their first performance, which was an acoustic version of the song 'Torn', the judges realized that these boys were confident, and fun and it seemed like it was just a group of five friends performing together. Quickly after a few live performances, the boys were already in the finals of the show, and gained quite a lot of popularity in the UK.

Although they came third at the finals, their song Forever Young, which was recorded to be released if the band had won leaked on the internet. Not very long after that, it was heard that the boys signed a contract of 2 million pounds with Syco Records which was owned by Simon Cowell himself.

This marked the beginning of an era, which absolutely no one saw coming.
